After ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’, Narendra Modi Government is about to launch another program. This skill development policy is a modified version of the programs launched earlier. This new program has been called by ‘Kaushal Bharat’. This is considered as a skill program. This program will be started in March 2015.
The Objective of ‘Skill India’
Its main purpose is to create opportunities in the talents of Indian youth, create opportunities in the field of work and develop more of those areas, which have been kept under the skill development for the past several years. At the same time, there are also identifying new areas for the skill development. The aim of the new program is to develop and train the skills of 500 million young people of the country by 2020.
What is The Objective:
- The skills of the youth are emphasized in such a way that they can get employment and improve entrepreneurship.
- Training for all related traditions such as carpenter, cobbler, welder, blacksmith, rajmisri, nurse, tailor and weavers etc. provide support and guidance.
- More emphasis should be given in many areas such as real estate, construction, transport, textile, gem industry, jewelry designing, banking, tourism and many other real areas, where skill development is insufficient or zero.
- The training program will be done internationally, so that youths of the country should not only meet the domestic demand but also make their mark by visiting other countries such as Japan, America, Germany, China, West Asia and Russia.
- Another notable feature of the ‘Skill India’ program will be to create an identity called ‘Bharat Bharat Skills’ so that the training process can be standardized and certified.
- Programs will be started according to the needs of specific age groups, which may include communication skills and language, positive and life thinking skills, personality development skill, management skill, behavior skills and job and employment skills.
How different is this from the previous skill development policies?
It is not that we do not already have any skill development program. The Indian government has always stressed on skill development for national development. It is OK to believe that the Ministry is new and the approach taken for skill development is also new. But before that, traditional jobs were emphasized. But this time, all types of jobs will be given equal importance. Earlier this responsibility was split between different ministries, but this time they are being linked together. Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will be the Prime Minister, who will make adjustments with other ministries and organizations.
According to Namo Government, Skill India will not be just a program but a movement. Where unemployed young people, college and school dropouts, educated people, rural and urban areas, all will be accorded equal importance. The certificate will be given to the people who complete this special skill or program by the new ministry, certified body. This certificate will be recognized by all public, private agencies and institutions, including Foreign Union. Skill India is a program of whole country.

This idea is to increase self-confidence, improve productivity and give direction through appropriate skill development. With skill development, the youth will be able to achieve the labor work. Development of skills, at the youth level, at the right school level, is essential for proper employment opportunities. All areas should have balanced development and all jobs should be given equal importance. To lead a great and decent life, every job candidate will be trained in better skills. Gradually skill development will also reach rural and remote areas. In the skill development of the youth, the institution of educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, government, academic institutes and society will be able to achieve better results in the shortest possible time.
