Introduction
Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is the modified and enhanced version of Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY). This is basically a maternity program that the government of India has started for the benefits of the young mothers. This scheme was especially devised by the government so that the problem of malnourishment can be obliterated totally form the face of this country. Mostly the problem of malnourishment is seen in the young mothers who are supposed to breast feed their babies.
According to statistics and reports every third woman of the country is suffering from malnutrition or anemia. And as a result a malnourished baby gives birth to a baby who is under weight.

- According to the medical journals and the various sources of medical reports the malnourishment affects the baby is an adverse way if it is present from an early age or if the expecting mother is suffering from it. - From 1st January, 2017 the maternity program was implemented in all the states. The provisions were made in accordance with the food security act, 2013.

- All the approved beneficiaries are entitled to an amount of money every month.

The objectives

- This scheme is also providing the loss of wage amount that is lost while delivering the first child. The government of providing this so that the mothers can take adequate rest and recover after the birth of the first child.
- The cash incentive is supposed to improve the condition of the pregnant and the lactating mothers.
- The Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is also promoting the proper service during the term of pregnancy and other medical procedures.
Benefits of the scheme
The Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) has the following benefits: –
- The government is providing cash incentive under this scheme to all the expecting and the lactating mothers.
- The primary benefit of this scheme is that it is trying to obliterate the problems of malnutrition and malnourishment.
- For the vaccination of the first child the government is trying to give out the incentives.
- All the eligible beneficiaries will be receiving incentives under the Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY).
- On an average the expecting women will be getting an amount Rs 6000 every month.
Eligibility and the conditions applying
The Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) has the following conditions and norms: –
- The pregnant women above the age of nineteen are eligible for this scheme.
- They can apply for the incentive amount of Rs 4000 and it will be paid is three installments.
- The pregnancy has to be registered at the Anganwadi to avail the benefits and the facilities of the Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).
- One has to attend at least one prenatal care sessions.
- One has to attend at least one session at the health care centers or AWC.
- The birth of the child has to be registered.
- The child has to be immunized with vaccines.
- The mother has to attend at least three monitoring sessions after the birth of the child buit within three months of the birth.
- The child has to be breast fed for at least six months.
- The child has to be immunized with OPV and DPT.
- The mother has to attend at least attend two counseling sessions on the monitoring of the growth.

- Form 1-A– For registration under PMMVY and claiming the first installment.
- Form 1-B– For claiming the second installment.
- Form 1-C– For claiming the third installment.
- Form 2-A– Application form for Aadhar seeding with bank account of the beneficiary.
- Form 2-B– Application form for Aadhar seeding with post office savings account of the beneficiary.
- Form 2-C– For Aadhar enrollment and corrections.
How to apply
You need to fill-up all the above mentioned forms and attach required documents by the concerned authorities. After that you will have to contact the nearest Anganwadi center. There you will have to register with all the details and necessary documents. You will need to also fill all the forms and submit here. From the government web portal you will be able to download all the necessary forms.

With the financial aid the government is supporting thousands of women around the country. But, according to reports and articles by newspapers these women and their family members have to deal with a lot of red-tape and official procedures.
For this reason many women are failing to avail this service. This scheme is not new; the older one has been modified and restructured to meet the demands and the requirements of the present generation. This scheme is very essential and helpful in the grass hood level because if the child is subjected to malnutrition form a very early age it is very probable that he or she is likely to develop complex diseases.
