ONLINE FIR CHHATTISGARH

In order to improve the police & make it more people-friendly, the Government of Chhattisgarh has been supportive throughout. Different schemes like PMF, SIS, and 12th FC have enabled the department to improve its infrastructure in addition to the state budget.

Chhattisgarh police would first upload all registered FIRs to their web portal within 24 hours of November to preserve accountability between the police and the public. In compliance with the order of the Supreme Court, a module was prepared in which FIRs would be submitted online by all the respective police stations and SPs would be responsible for tracking them while they would be readily available to complainants and the public online.

The Crime Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) is a move of Chhattisgarh police towards excellence in linking all police stations & higher offices to state data centers and lodging FIRs online & monitoring/analysis data of crimes/criminals.

Details

The CCTNS project, a mission mode project under the Government of India (GOI) e-mission program, is being implemented in Chhattisgarh State under the supervision of the Nodal Agency of the MHA, the NCRB. The main objective of the CCTNS project is to make the police work transparent and through the intranet connect all police stations & higher offices (total 597 locations). FIRs are reported via the system, and the department produces related police reports for use. All historical documents of the police since 2003 have been digitized.

Around 26,300 police officers were trained under the CCTNS initiative until August 2016. The state data center (SDC) has been connected to a total of 286 police stations & 149 higher offices with VPN over broadband (VPNoBB) connectivity.

What does CCTNS do?

  • The running of all the departments is done digitally under Digital India and e-Governance Crime. So the openness in the work is there.
  • The Crime and Criminal Monitoring Network and System (CCTNS) has been introduced by the Central Government under this structure. All the police stations are linked to one server in the region.

Benefits of FIR on mobile

  • FIR would not be tampered with once reported at police stations.
  • The accused will be aware of the report that has been filed. There’ll be no discrimination.
  • In the possession of senior officers, too, would be FIR.
  • To get a copy of the FIR, one does not have to go around.
  • It would be possible for officers to sit in the office and see the reports of each police department.
