Implementation format

DDU-GKY follows a three-level implementation format. DDU-GKY national unit of Ministry of Rural Development works as a policy maker, technical assistant and facilitation agency. The State Mission of DDU-GKY provides implementation assistance and project implementation agencies provide skills and implement the program through employment projects.

Project funding assistance

Funding assistance is provided for employment related to projects providing skill through DDU-GKY, which helps in solving the demand of the market from Rs 25,696 to Rs 1 lakh with financing assistance, which is the period of project And based on residential or non-residential project. Through DDU-GKY, funding is done for training projects of 576 hours (three months) to 2304 hours (twelve months).

The financing components include training costs, living and eating, transportation expenses, post-employment assistance expenses, livelihood upgradation and sustainable employment assistance related expenses.

Priority to Project Implementation Agencies (PIA) in Project Financing

  • Employment abroad
  • Captive Employment: A project implementation agency or organization that provides skill training to meet current human resources requirements.
  • Industrial Training: Providing assistance for various training with co-financing from the industry.
  • Leading employers: Project implementation agencies that provide assurance of skill training and planning.
  • Highly renowned educational institution: Such institutions which hold a minimum of 3.5 grading of Recognition Council (NAAC) or such community colleges which are funded by the University Grants Commission and to take DDU-GKY projects Interested to be.

Training requirements

Funding is done for many skill training programs in more than 250 trades such as retail, hospitality, health, construction, automated, leather, electricity, plumbing, gems and jewelery etc. through DDU-GKY. There is a mandate to impart skill training to employ only on demand-based and at least 75 percent of the trainees.

Training quality assurance

Through the National Skill Development Policy, 2009, India emphasizes the need to create a national qualification program that connects both education to general education and vocational education. Accordingly, the Government of India has notified the National Skills Qualification Program (NSQF) to develop a national level system and to develop comparable qualification systems at international level.

Measurements and effects

DDU-GKY is applicable throughout the country. At present the scheme has been implemented in 610 districts of 33 States / Union Territories. It involves more than 202 project implementation agencies, involving more than two hundred and fifty  trades associated with more than 50 areas. Till now, a total of 10.94 lakh candidates have been trained till 2004-05 to 30 November 2014 and a total of 8.51 lakh candidates have been provided employment.
