Aadhar Bill

Introduction

The Aadhar Bill was introduced in the parliament in 2014. Initially, this bill was presented to the parliament as a money bill. The government had created a statutory body named as UIDAI (unique Identification Identification Authority Of India). This statutory body is responsible for creating and maintaining the database of Aadhar card.

This Aadhar Bill initiative was taken for transferring direct financial and other subsidies to the people. The Addhar card will provide a unique identification number for every citizen of India, which can’t be replicated. With the help of Aadhar card, the government will be able to send the subsidy money and other help directly to the common people without any middleman.

In the previous structure of governance, the ration centers and the panchayat offices were being used to provide subsidized material to the common people. This system was not effective. Most of the dealers were selling the good quality subsidized food items and other commodities in the open market and they used to send bad quality products to the common people. corruption was also increasing because of the indirect system of transferring benefit.

The Aadhar Bill was introduced in the lock sabha of the Parliament as a money bill, but it was not exactly a money bill. The Aadhar Bill was created to transfer financial benefit directly to the common people.

The main objective of this bill was to provide financial help to the common people without taking help of any middleman.

This bill was also created to curb corruption in the society. Most of the ration dealers and MGNAREGA contractors were providing benefit to their own people and the common people were not getting the benefit of Government sponsored schemes. With the help of Aadhar card, the government can reach to the common people directly.

Properties of the scheme

Initially, a lot of controversies were created by the scholars and opposition, that this bill will take away privacy from the people. the Constitution of India has provided right to privacy through Article 21, and this Aadhar bill will expose every personal data of a person to the government.

Also, the issue of unethical hacking was a big concern for most of the people. if hackers get access to the database of UIDAI, the sensitive data of a citizen can be manipulated and that may cause a lot of trouble.

The officials of government have ensured that the UIDAI database is completely secure and nobody can get access to that database. Also, the bill will not take away the privacy of the people. the governance system will become more transparent and accountable with the help of Aadhar. Now the government schemes can be implemented at the grass root level. Funds can be transferred easily and illegal activities can be detected easily.

Conclusion:

There is no doubt that, this bill will change the governance system in this country completely. Now the government has to spend a lot of money to send help to the people, who actually need the money. With the help of zero balance account and Aadhar card, subsidy and MGNAREGA payment can be sent directly to the account of the common people.
